Internship Programme

The West Midlands Research Internship Programme provides regulated health and care professionals (excluding doctors and dentists) with an introduction to research, enabling them to explore their own area of interest.

The NIHR-funded internship – hosted by the Midlands Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust – allows individuals to combine clinical practice with research activity that benefits patients and service users.

This fully funded programme provides health and care professionals with the skills, experience, and confidence to take their first – or next – steps in research, helping to improve services and outcomes for patients and communities across the West Midlands.

Who can apply?

The internship is open to all registered health and social care professionals (excluding doctors and dentists) working in the West Midlands. You do not need prior research experience – just an interest in research, a commitment to professional development, and the support of your employer.
