BT and University Hospital Birmingham invite you to see the power of 5G: the latest development in remote diagnostics

To mark the launch of 5G in Birmingham earlier this year, BT and University Hospital Birmingham have worked in partnership to bring you the next stage in remote diagnostics.

We invite you to a highly immersive experience that brings to life how 5G can empower the latest developments in healthcare technology at MD-TEC, Institute of Translational Medicine, on the 15th November.

We will be introducing virtual reality and augmented reality glasses, as well as an ultrasound scan using a haptic glove remotely controlled by a clinician, to bring the concept of a 5G Connected Ambulance to life. Building this new technology into two real-world emergency scenarios, we will demonstrate how a high-bandwidth connection facilitates a paramedic in the field. Thanks to the faster speeds, reliability and responsiveness of 5G, the NHS can deliver the expertise of clinicians in the hospital out into the community.

These demonstrations give you a chance to see the power of 5G live and experience how the network could join up healthcare services, enable new levels of care and efficiency, and ultimately work to empower your NHS.

We’re delighted to be joined on the day by:

      • Fotis Karonis (CTIO BT Enterprise & 5G Executive Advisor)
      • Lucy Baker (Service Technology Director Enterprise BT)
      • Dr Tom Clutton-Brock (Clinical Director of the NIHR Trauma Management MedTech Co-Operative)
      • Calum Stone (Paramedic, South Central Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust)

There are a number of sessions available and your place can be secured by accessing the booking form here:

Please remember to bring some ID with you on the day. We have a limited number of sessions available and are expecting these to get booked up quickly, so please act now to secure your space.

Please join us and experience the possibilities 5G can create.

We look forward to welcoming you in November.
